The Association for Women in Sports Media (AWSM) is excited to announce a new professional development certificate program for high school students interested in sports journalism.

This program connects students directly with current and former sports journalists, giving them the chance to learn industry insights, build foundational skills, and start preparing for a career in sports media — all while still in high school.

The program launches this October with a Zoom session featuring former sports writers Megan Ortiz and Jenny Dial Creech, who will share how students can begin building their skills now through their school publication.

Announcements on more speakers and a contest coming soon. Registration for the certificate program will open later this month. Stay tuned!
