The Association for Women in Sports Media is celebrating Katie Nolan's exceptional contributions to the organization by adding a new scholarship named in her honor.

The Katie Nolan Scholarship, underwritten by AWSM chair and treasurer Jenny Creech, will join the AWSM Scholars lineup starting during the 2026-27 selection period.

Nolan, an Emmy award-winning sports journalist, has led shows featured on Fox Sports and ESPN before hosting the Sirius XM podcast "Casuals" and radio show "Fan Service."

The Framingham, Mass., native and Hofstra alum has long been a fierce advocate for women at all levels of sports media and deftly has shut down critics who question her right to offer opinions on sports.

Her iconic ESPN segment titled "Katie Nolan joins secret society of women in sports media" satirized common criticism of women in sports media and remains an inspiration for many of our members. When AWSM, an all-volunteer nonprofit, faced a major decline in donations, Nolan donated her Celebrity Jeopardy winnings to the organization and played a massive role in keeping AWSM in operation. Throughout her Jeopardy run, Nolan raised awareness about our organization.

AWSM's board remains grateful to Nolan and is thrilled to recognize her success with an annual scholarship.
