The Association for Women in Sports Media is accepting applications for the 2027 AWSM Scholars program using this form. Applications are due Nov. 8, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. PST for priority consideration. Final deadline: Dec. 13, 2026.

AWSM will award female college students a $1,250 scholarship and one of the following: three meetings with a dedicated mentor, or placement in a paid internship in one of these fields: sports writing, TV production, digital video, social media/content distribution, and media relations/Sports PR.

The summer 2027 mentor pairings and intern placements will be announced in the spring.

Past Scholars have enjoyed fruitful internships at ESPN, the Los Angeles Times, MLB.com and other outlets. Since 1990, AWSM has placed more than 200 female college students interested in sports media careers in paid summer internships.

‍Who is eligible?

‍The program is open to female college students who have completed at least one year of college (sophomores and above; grad students also eligible). Students graduating in 2027 and previous winners are allowed to apply. Bilingual skills are a plus for internship placement.

‍What does it cost to apply?

‍There is no application fee, but you must be an AWSM student member to apply. Our student memberships cost $30 and you can sign up here: http://awsmonline.org/membership. If you are not already a member, you will be eligible if you begin your membership application by the internship application deadline.
