“Not only is AWSM a wonderful source of mentors and role models, but its scholarship program gives young reporters a chance to gain valuable real-world experience. I was lucky that my internship became a full-time gig.”

Ayanna Wakefield, 1996

“I did my internship with the Minnesota Vikings. With that, I was able to meet professionals from different areas of sports who helped me expand my skills in the field. I can still think back to certain situations and apply what I learned to what I do today. Doing the internship gave me confidence in my abilities, and knowing that others saw what I had in me was a true blessing.”
